1. Mark Zuckerberg

Zuckerberg On Coding: “Everything I Do Breaks, But We Fix It Quickly” On stage at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook co-founder and CEO, says that he still codes sometimes for fun. But there is a rule at Facebook, he says: “If you are checking in code, you have to maintain your code.”

Overall millions of people know the story of Facebook’s creation. Furthermore even your parents and grandparents have heard about it or even use it! Facebook started in a Harvard dorm room back in 2004. Originally called thefacebook.com, Zuckerberg bragged “I do stuff like this all the time,” to The Harvard Crimson during a June 2004 interview. “The facebook literally took me a week to make.”

The humble beginnings of the billion-dollar company even became a major motion picture in the 2010 Best Picture nominated film The Social Network. But few know how Mark Zuckerberg actually learned to code.

All in all in January 2004, Zuckerberg locked himself into his dorm room in Harvard’s Kirkland Hall. In turn created code for his new social media site called Facebook. Furthermore in one week he created the social media platform. Zuckerberg the self-taught programmer created a website that would eventually attract more than 2 billion users worldwide. Thus as a sixth grader, Mark Zuckerberg learned to code not long after he received his first computer. In turn Zuckerberg became interested in coding. 2. Bill Gates

Bill Gates has been obsessed with programming since age 13, when his school got its first computer terminal.

As you know Bill Gates and his business partner Paul Allen founded and built the world’s largest software business, Microsoft. Thus through technological innovation, keen business strategy and aggressive business tactics. Thus Bill Gates became one of the richest men in the world.

3. Steve Wozniak

All in all Steve was watching Star Trek on TV and he happened to be in fourth grade. In turn that’s when started getting an interest in mathematics. Furthermore Steve had a passion for radio transistors and earned a radio license at ten years old! Not to mention at age of 11, he built a “ticktacktoe” computer. Steve was mainly a self taught programmer but also believed in the formal education. Thus he went to college at the University of Colorado at Boulder but they expelled him for hacking into the institution’s computer system

As the story goes, you know Steve eventually cofounded Apple with Steve Jobs. In turn Apple is worth over $2 trillion! Furthermore Apple’s become the very first American company to reach a market capitalization of over $2 trillion.

4. Kimberly Bryant

Overall Kimberly Bryant saw the need for more black girls in programming. As they weren’t properly represented, especially in the tech space. She is an African American electrical engineer who worked in the biotechnology field at Genentech, Novartis Vaccines, Diagnostics, and Merck. In turn In 2011, Kimberly founded Black Girls Code, a training course that teaches basic programming concepts to black girls

5. Linda Liukas

All in all Linda Liukas is a Finnish children’s book author, illustrator and an instructor for beginner level programmers. In the year 2014, her Hello Ruby coding book for children raised over $380,000 on Kickstarter becoming the platform’s most highly funded children’s book. She has forever changed the world of coding for kids and parents!
