What is Web design?
Web development comprises the process of designing and building web sites, which could be either a personal website (“one man show”) or a corporate/business website. The term web design refers to both the process and the outcome of designing websites for clients. A web designer is one who practices the craft of creating such web pages. Skills required by a web designer are: knowledge of HTML, XHTML, DHTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Dynamic HTML (DHTML), XML mark-up language (XML) as well as several other programming languages and applications like Adobe Photoshop for graphics composition.
An individual involved in this field is most commonly referred to as a Web Designer or a Website Designer. A Web Developer or a Website Developer is generally involved in the process of designing websites, but does not generally create the layout/graphics for the website; that task usually falls to a graphic artist and web designer. When one thinks of design, he/she might think about what they would like their site to look like in terms of color and graphics (the ‘look’ or ‘feel’). This is where the graphic artist comes into play, creating graphics with tools such as Adobe Photoshop which are ultimately incorporated into the design by the web designer.
Since there are various programming languages, platforms and tool sets available today, it is possible for a developer to specialize in just one area. For example: JavaScript programmers can work on sites based upon the following:

– Microsoft Silverlight
– HTML/DHTML
– Adobe Director / Dreamweaver
A web designer specialises in the following areas of web development:
Knowledge and understanding of different programming languages like PHP, ASP, Jsp, Cold Fusion etc. What are the tools available to create a website? (XML Markup Language(XML), Cascading Style Sheets(CSS), Java Scripts)(Dreamweaver is used to code documents written in XML)
1. Phase One – Research & Preliminary Web Designing – The first phase involves analyzing the site requirements and strategy with the client and studying the structure of the website.
2. Phase Two – Site Design & creation – The second phase involves developing a blueprint for the site, working with graphics specialists to develop site design concepts and creating the graphics which will be used on various pages.
3. Phase Three – Content development – This is where all of everything comes together. This is also known as production or implementation stage.
4. Phase Four – Testing & Implementation / Maintaining- The last phase before going live is testing different features of the website such as pop-up windows, hyperlinks and banners etc… It is important to fix any errors prior to releasing it to users.
5. Phase Five – Post Launch Maintenance – To ensure the success and growth of the website, it is necessary to perform continuous maintenance and analysis.

What is Web Designing?
Web designing can be defined as a process in which a website is created for users with the use of web programming languages (HTML, Java script and XML) and other web design tools like graphic designing software.
The main purpose of developing websites is to provide information to users via the Internet. This information can be in any form including pictures, text, audios and videos.
In order to access this information, users need special software called browser. The browser’s main functions are to connect you with desired websites on the internet.
Once connected, websites will supply you with information. You can then visualize it, hear it or read it depending on the type of information.
